Bi-District Thursday Night Recap
There were seven games on tap for Thursday night to open the Bi-District round of the playoffs with five teams extending their season for at least one more week.
Lewisville Falls Just Short in Upset
Lewisville needed a near-perfect game to hang with No. 2 Allen, and it almost got that game after a rocky 4 game stretch. Trailing 14-3 going into the half, Lewisville was able to get a touchdown pass midway through the third quarter to pull to within 14-9.
That score remained into the fourth until Tre Williams connected with Traejan Mueller for a jump ball from 21 yards out to give the Farmers the 15-14 lead.
Allen responded with a 4-plus minute drive to recapture the lead, but Lewisville had had a chance. Driving with under 4 minutes to go, the Farmers fumbled on the Allen 40 with 1:10 to play and missed its chance to tie or possibly steal the road win, falling 22-15 and ending its season.
Reedy Does Enough Over Creekview
Without its starting quarterback, Reedy was able to stymie the Creekview offense and made enough plays of its own on offense on the way to 24-3 win.
The ground game did most of the work for Reedy as Jarrett Walker and DJ Carlisle combined for 36 carries for 177 yards and two scores. Reedy kept Creekview out of the endzone, including getting two takeaways in its own defensive redzone to end Creekview threats.
Reedy will meet the winner of Highland Park and Lake Belton in the Area round.
Lone Star RollsÂ
After a close call last week that nearly ended its perfect record, Lone Star had no problems with North Mesquite in a 49-6 win to open the playoffs.Â
Trey Wright threw for 138 yards and ran for another 121 more to lead the Rangers on offense that scored with relative ease all night. The Rangers will meet the winner of Georgetown and Burleson Centennial in the Area round.
Denton Ryan Coasts
Quin Henigan had another big game for Ryan, throwing for 370 yards and four touchdowns to help lead the raiders to a 59-7 first round win over Chisholm Trail.Â
Henigan connected with Raymond Smith seven times for 208 yards and three of those touchdowns.
Ryan will meet Abilene next week, which put up 84 on El Paso Bel Air in its first round matchup.
Panther Creek Drubs Carter…Again
Panther Creek was able to handle Dallas Carter in convincing fashion again, same as Week 2, to open its playoff run.
The Panthers started a bit slow, scoring only 7 in the first and 14 in the second to lead 21-0 at the half. Panther Creek then poured it on in the third quarter, outscoring Carter 28-0 on the way to the big 49-7 win.
It was a well-rounded offensive effort for Panther Creek as Shawn White, Donovan Webb and Graylyn Fry combined for five rushing touchdowns.
The Panthers will take on Springtown next week, which knocked off Lake Worth 55-0.
Pilot Point Rolls West
Pilot Point was the only underdog in Thursday’s slate of games to go against the grain of expectations with a 45-13 demolition of West.
The Bearcats lead just 17-7 going into the half but proceeded to outscore West 28-6 in the second half to move to the second round for the second straight year.
Pilot Point will meet the winner of Commerce and Jefferson next week.
Hebron Can’t Sustain Against Prosper
The first quarter had the makings of a upset brewing for Hebron. Within the first 5:20 of the game, Hebron had a 14-0 lead. From there through the rest of the first half, it was all Prosper.
The Eagles rattled off 21 straight to close out the 1st quarter and then another 21 in the first 7:15 of the second quarter to turn that 14-0 deficit to a 42-14 lead. Hebron added a field goal late in the second to end the scoring run.
Two more touchdowns in the third salted away the game for Prosper, despite Hebron scoring 22 in the fourth to make the score more respectable.
