Quick Look: 5-3A DI

With the UIL releasing its Biennial Realignment ahead of the 2026 season, we quickly take a look at the potential impact of what each district related to the Denton County schools means.

5-3A DI for 2026-28

Dallas A+
Dallas Life Oak Cliff
Gunter
Pilot Point
Pottsboro
Whitesboro

From seven teams to six in this year’s grouping as Palmer and Dallas Madison drop off and recent juggernaut Gunter join the group as the majority slide over from 6-3A to 5-3A.

Last year’s playoff teams were: Whitney, Grandview, West, Maypearl

Gunter had its three-year state title streak broken in the state semis last year but regularly churns out great teams, so let’s mark them as a playoff team. Then you have Pottsboro that went undefeated in district play and Pilot Point, which finished second, and Whitesboro that came in fourth.

So even with regression from last year, it would appear Pilot Point should be safe to make the playoffs again under Worrell as Dallas A+ and Life Oak Cliff do not genuinely pose much of a threat.

Too-Early-To-Predict-the-Playoffs-Prediction:
1. Gunter
2. Pottsboro
3. Whitesboro
4. Pilot Ppoint
