Woodward Named Permanent HC

After a 10-3 campaign with an interim head coaching tag, Northwest ISD made the move to promote Zach Woodward to its permanent head coach, the district announced on Wednesday.

Woodward took over as the interim head coach after the sudden passing of the program’s only head coach, Travis Pride, in May. Woodward had been the team’s defensive coordinator for 10 years.

Byron Nelson finished 7-1 in district play and won a string of 9 straight games before falling to Denton Guyer in a thrilling Regional Semifinal matchup.

It was the third time in the last four years that Nelson surpassed the 10-win plateau.
