Quick Look: 3-5A DII

With the UIL releasing its Biennial Realignment ahead of the 2026 season, we quickly take a look at the potential impact of what each district related to the Denton County schools means.

3-5A DII for 2026-28

Argyle
Colleyville Heritage
Eagle Mountain
Grapevine
The Colony
Lucas Lovejoy
Nevada Community

The majority of the teams from this district last year are back as the district shrinks from nine teams to seven and adds Eagle Mountain, Lovejoy and Community to the fray.

Last year’s playoff teams were: Argyle, Heritage, Timberview, Seguin

Eagle Mountain was a playoff team out of 4A DII last year and makes a full two-division leap ahead of 2026. Lovejoy is in this new group after falling to Argyle to open the playoffs last year, and Community moves up a division after a 1-9 campaign last year.

With the south Tarrant county teams out of the mix this year, this makes the race pretty wide open for the likes of The Colony, Grapevine and Eagle Mountain, with the edge likely to go to the two that have already been at the 5A level.

Too-Early-To-Predict-the-Playoffs-Prediction:
1. Argyle
2. Colleyville Heritage
3. Grapevine
4. The Colony
