Quick Look: 4-5A DII

With the UIL releasing its Biennial Realignment ahead of the 2026 season, we quickly take a look at the potential impact of what each district related to the Denton County schools means.

4-5A DII for 2026-28

Anna
Celina
Denison
Frisco
Frisco Emerson
Frisco Independence
Frisco Memorial
Frisco Panther Creek
Prosper Richland

None of the Denton County teams were in this group last year, but with Panther Creek’s and Celina’s division rise from 4A and Richland now in a proper district, the waters get really muddy.

Last year’s playoff teams were: Walnut Grove, Melissa, Anna, Lovejoy

On the initial look, there seems to be a lot of really good teams in this district.

There’s Celina with its 9 state titles, although it has been decimated by what has been going through the school in the last few months. There’s Anna, which finished with 10 wins. There’s Frisco, which made the playoffs a year ago, and there’s Panther Creek which has done nothing but win since its inception.

Emerson is not a team to scoff at, Denison was on the cusp a year ago and even Richland had a strong finish to its inaugural season.

All this is to say it’ll be a fun ride to watch this district sort itself out.
