Week 11 Friday Night Recap

The regular season in the Denton County area is over as the final seven games concluded on Friday night. Let’s talk about them.

Creekview Takes Out Smith

It was a matchup that was going to determine seeding out of 6-5A DI as well as which team would get to play at home next week or be on the road.

Trailing 17-14 at the break, Creekview outscored Smith 21-7 in the third quarter to flip the 3-point deficit to an 11-point lead going into the fourth. All three scores came from the duo of quarterback Cason Garcia to wide receiver Brendyn Shed.

Creekview tacked on another touchdown late in the fourth to seal the 42-30 win and claim the No. 2 seed and a home matchup against Frisco Reedy to begin the playoffs.

Nelson Pulls Away In 2nd Half

Nelson didn’t need the win. It has it’s positioning figured out. Still, the Bobcats found themselves in a tussle with Keller Central, which was fighting for a berth in the playoffs and needing a win.

The score was 14-14 going into the half but the Bobcats kept Central off the scoreboard in the third while adding two of its own scores to go up 28-14. Both teams added 14 more points in the fourth to allow the Bobcats to win and eliminate Keller Central.

The Nelson win plus Keller winning moved Nelson from being the Division I winner out of 4-6A to the Division II runner-up and a matchup with Mansfield next week.

Panther Creek Stumbles In Position Battle

In a quiet State Top 10 matchup, Panther Creek was unable to secure the No. 2 seed out of 7-4A DI as it fell 20-13 to Sulphur Springs. The loss snaps a four-game win streak as it heads into the playoffs next week.

Krum Finishes Off Perfect Regular Season

It wasn’t the clean 10-0 regular season as one game was canceled due to weather, but Krum was nonetheless able to end the regular reason with no blemishes after a 49-0 win over Bonham.

Krum will meet Ferris next week to get to the 10-win mark for just the second time in program history.

Pilot Point, Ryan, Argyle Route

Argyle started slow against The Colony but rolled to a 56-14 win as it gets ready to meet the Todd Dodge-led Lovejoy Leopards next week.

Ryan made easy work of Birdville with a number of takeaways as it won 52-7 to help eliminate Birdville from the playoff picture.

Pilot Point and Life Oak Cliff played for nothing really, but it didn’t stop the Bearcats from running away with a 62-21 win.
